Features are where Best Master’s Programs’ writers and editors get off the beaten path and put their talents to work on the sidetracks. Rankings are the meat and potatoes; Resources are the nitty-gritty; Features are the sideshow. They may be educational and informative, or they may be a silly diversion, and they just might go viral. Whatever the case, there’s something in the BMP Feature pages that will make you think, make you curious, and possibly make you laugh (even if, like the Darwin Awards, it’s a little macabre).
Useful Information for Graduate Students
Think of BMP as your grad school survival kit; we’re the care package mom sent to summer camp, or the Saint Bernard with the tiny cask of brandy. Our Features may give you useful information about the best master’s degree for the future, or the top master’s degrees in demand; we might point you to the best master’s degree for career change, or what to do when you’re going back to grad school at 25.

Or maybe you’re feeling just a tad burned out; it happens to the best of us, especially in grad school. Nothing pumps you up with inspiration and motivation quite like a good old-fashioned TED Talk, right?

It’s not all business, though. Maybe you’re worried about things to buy for grad school (noise-cancelling headphones, definitely) or what the first day of grad school is going to look like. Maybe you’re the family member of someone in grad school and you’re looking for cool gifts for grad students, or an appropriate gift for a master’s degree graduate. If it’s not here now, let us know through our contact page and we’ll work it in!
Scholarships for Graduate Students
Paying for graduate school is one of the biggest challenges for just about anyone (if you’re independently wealthy and just getting a master’s degree for fun, this doesn’t apply to you). There are a lot of avenues for getting your degree paid for, or for saving money on a degree. For instance, there are many fully funded graduate programs, since universities often use grad students as teaching assistants and research assistants. Fully funded programs will usually waive tuition for students who are teaching classes or helping faculty with their research. Try hard enough, and you might even find master’s programs that pay you.
But for other students, searching for a scholarship is all but a prerequisite for going to school; there will be no master’s program without a scholarship. BMP is steadily researching specialized scholarship programs for various master’s degree programs, and will continue to update lists and put together new ones for students looking for scholarships.

The Interesting, Weird, and Wacky
It’s all fun and games until someone gets hurt (cue the Darwin Awards again), but fun and games is what makes the world go ‘round. Will the number of Nobel Prize winners in a university’s faculty and alumni make up your mind about whether to apply? Probably not. Is it fun to know that the university you’re attending has been home to 3 Nobel Prize winners? Of course it is.
Fun facts and trivia about college campuses, history, current events, pop culture, and politics are the name of the game with BMP’s Features, from the most educated Darwin Award winners (you can be quite intelligent, and still find dumb ways to die) to the weirdest student protests ever (big surprise – a lot of them involve streaking). And that’s not even including the time Harvard students rioted over rancid butter in the cafeteria, but that was 1766 – it’s not like they had much else to protest just ten years before the American Revolution, right?

Best Master’s Programs Infographics
Do you prefer your fun facts and useful knowledge in a more graphic form? Yeah, you and everybody else. There’s no form that’s more easily digestible and accessible than an infographic, boiling down ideas into words and icons. One day, they may be the primary way we get our information, at least until it’s uploaded directly into our brains; but until then, Best Master’s Programs inforgraphics are here with helpful information about topics that matter to grad students, like essential technology and cleaning up your social media.
